Brave & Proud”… Two of the things we most admire about all the women in our little Double D community. The pervasive theme throughout the Willie’s Picnic collection is Americana and the American Spirit, so this summer’s signature jacket needed to reflect that, which made our decision to make it white a no-brainer. While we’re of the mindset that a woman can wear white year-round, the light shade paired with the cropped sleeve length gives this biker a uniquely summery vibe. The back features a prominent image of a Native American chief in softened red, white, and blues, accented by some statement studwork and colorful geometric embroidery. The floral designs that appear on the sleeves and lapels incorporate the patriotic hues, enhanced by the additions of turquoise and marigolds for an overall feminine feel. The slightly angled front hem, zippered embellishments, and a couple of flags snuck in for good measure – this is the kind of classic collector jacket you’re going to be reaching for year after year!

In our Doodle Dandy collection, we drew motifs that are authentic and important to us – Americana, Native American images, and all things cowgirl. We put it on summery white fabrics, and opted for muted retro colors – blue-greys and rusty reds – rather than stark, in-your-face red, white, and blue. We decided to call the print Doodle Dandy; it was something that just kind of rolled off our tongue, and felt perfectly patriotic for this summer collection. We dialed it down a little on this classic white denim jacket, with the doodles acting as accents rather than “all over”, but we did go bold with a big ol’ chief on the back! With brass stud work and buttons, and raw edges, this jacket is the kind of cowgirl cool that’s bound to be a classic. Wanna double down on the Doodle Dandy? Rock this jacket with our Doodle Dandy Jean!
Denim jackets have always been a Double D favorite – who doesn’t have a jean jacket that they just absolutely love?! – but we don’t make them quite as consistently as we do our bikers. However, the denim flag jacket was one of our most beloved jackets many moons ago, and we felt that we simply must design one for our 30th anniversary. This version is a light denim in a classic button-down, slightly cropped silhouette (hits closer to the waist than the hips). The prominent feature is a stitched-and-studded iteration of the American flag on the back, accompanied by some light mock-mending. Beneath the flag is scrawled the words, “United States of America” and “1776”.
If you’re having a little fashion déjà vu, feeling like “I’ve seen this jacket before somewhere”, you’re not imagining it. While it’s not a replica or a remake, the Head Over Wheels Jacket was heavily influenced by the Nudie Cohn jackets and suits that were made for the legendary musician and TV personality, Porter Waggoner. We’ve incorporated various elements and images from some of Porter’s signature suits – wagon wheels, cacti, and covered wagons – in heavily embellished embroidery and nailhead accents. The 100% goat suede jacket is edged with contrast stitching, and accented with Western “smiley” welts. It’s colorful and country and definitely a collector!
